Back in touch

We finally have internet access!  I've been so out of touch for so long...  this feels wonderful.

I hope everyone is still reading!  I have to get back to my habit of writing everyday (well, almost.)

Susanna is at school right now.  It seems to be going well.  She actually missed most of last week because she was sick.  I don't think it helped much to have such a big break, but I got her there on Friday, and now she's back for a full week.  Next week is a four-day week, then they have a week off.  Then no days off until the end of July.  If we were still in Lancaster we'd be done with school for the year - its nice to dream about what we'd be doing if that was the case.

Ben and I have been touring preschools this week.  So far they all look nice.  They are all sort of similar in their differences from what we are used to.  Most have just one big class (from 2.5 or 3 years to 5 years) and you can pick how many days your child attends, so there could be different kids on different days.  We are hoping to find a school with a relatively small number of children.  One school takes 28, which seems like a lot.  Others take less, so we'll probably end up at one of those.  We have one more to look at and then we have to decide.  He may be able to start in June for 2 days a week just to get his feet wet - I'm sure he'd enjoy it.

This past weekend we went to London to visit the Natural History Museum (a free attraction - woo hoo!), and to Brighton, a seaside town.  The traffic getting into and out of Brighton was ridiculous, but the town itself was nice.  The beach there doesn't have sand, but rocks.  The kids didn't mind, but I didn't like it at all!  And they don't seem to have any rules about alcohol or glass bottles, and we had a close call with some broken glass - fortunately no injuries - the rocks inflicted enough pain!

Some photos:

Eating a new favorite treat in a nearby park (by a really big tree).

At Windsor Castle.  Didn't make him laugh.

In the butterfly house at the Natural History Museum.

At the seaside - all rocks, no sand.
